What Ingredients To Look For When Buying A Hand Cream?

Frequent hand washing and alcohol disinfection is a must nowadays to keep covid at bay.  Because of this, it gets harder to stay away from dry, chapped, and (even) bleeding hands. There’s no better way to prevent this from happening than slathering hand creams three times a day. Hand Cream

However, there’s a whole aisle of hand creams available on the market. How do you know which ones work so that you don’t end up wasting your money? Hand Cream

Effective hand creams should contain all three moisturizers: emollient, occlusive, and humectant.

Emollient

An emollient refers to ingredients that keep the topmost layer of the skin soft and smooth. It fills in the gap between your cells causing that silky feel after applying a lotion.

These ingredients are Cyclomethicone, dimethicone copolyol, glyceryl stearate, isopropyl palmitate, lanolin, and propylene glycol linoleate.

Humectant

A humectant, on the other hand, attracts water from the lower layers of the skin and the atmosphere into the uppermost layer.

If you are wondering why drinking a lot of water doesn’t make your skin supple, it’s probably because you need a boost from humectants to deliver water to your skin.

The common ingredients are glycerin, hyaluronic acid, urea, lactic acid, propylene glycol, and sodium PCA.

Occlusives

Occlusive locks in moisture so that water does not escape from the surface too quickly.

These are petrolatum, beeswax, mineral oil, shea butter, and paraffin.

For sensitive and irritated skin, you can boost it with aloe vera, oatmeal, and soy to provide some relief.
