As the word “premature” describes, aging signs like pigmentation, sagginess, and wrinkles will be noticeable before expected. They can be related to genetics, smoking habits, diet, lack of collagen, lack of rest, prolonged sun exposure, and other factors.
How to prevent premature aging?
- Wearing sunscreen is a must. Add a broad-spectrum sunscreen to your daily routine, even for short trips outdoors and even if you are inside your home.
- Never skip the exfoliation; it is necessary to remove the dead skin layer at least once a week; otherwise, the topical treatments applied to the skin will remain on top of the dead skin layer and won’t be able to penetrate deeply.
- Vitamin C is an excellent antioxidant; it will fight the free radicals and prevent pigmentation. It can be used as a serum, supplement, or added to your diet in fruits like strawberries, lemons, oranges, kiwi, broccoli, and green vegetables.
- Vitamin E: Also works as an antioxidant; it can be applied as part of your skincare routine or be absorbed through the diet in broccoli, tomatoes, sunflower, and almonds.
- Adapt your skincare depending on your skin type: Use only the products recommended for your skin type. Always consult with a professional to identify your skin type and suggest new products and skin therapies to address your skin concerns.
