You Should Avoid All These Ingredients Found in Some Sunscreens

We all know sunscreen is one of our “must” ingredients in our skincare routine; it can help us prevent sunburns, pigmentation, wrinkles, and skin cancer. Nowadays, you can find hundreds of sunscreens over the counter, and on occasions, it is hard to decide just for one. Remember that the sunscreen found in your makeup won’t give you the full protection needed; you must add an individual sunscreen all the time.

Not all sunscreens work the same. You must learn to recognize the safest and functional products for your skin.

Here we will mention the active ingredients that you must consider before choosing a sunscreen and explain to you the damage they can cause to your skin:
  • Oxybenzone: It is known to cause damage to corals, and being a form of synthetic estrogen can cause hormonal imbalance. It has been banned in Hawaii.
  • Avobenzone: It can cause skin irritation. It is also an unstable ingredient; hence it must be avoided to prevent side effects.
  • Octinoxate: When exposed to UV light, it can cause allergic reactions. It is similar to oxybenzone when it comes to damage. It caused side effects on animals’ thyroid and reproductive systems when tested. It was also banned in Hawaii.
