We all know that the main reason for our skin problems is caused by the sun, not only sunburns but also pigmentation, wrinkles, sagginess, and other skin conditions. And all of this is caused by excessive sun exposure and the lack of use of sunscreen. Sun Damage
The sun produces different types of energy, including UV radiation known as UVA, UVB, and UVC, each affecting a different layer of the skin and causing further skin damage. Most of this radiation is absorbed by the ozone layer, but still, a part reaches earth and affects us.
The best way to prevent sun damage is by limiting sun exposure and adding sunscreen to your routine; you need to know that not all sunscreen can protect you from both types of radiation (UVA, UVB); therefore, you must choose broad-spectrum sunscreen which can protect you from both radiations.
Here we will mention the different types of radiation and the damage they can cause to your skin:
- UVA Radiation: It is the one that penetrates deeper and produces long-term side effects such as wrinkles, pigmentation, and even cell changes that can eventually turn into cancer. The absorption of the UVA rays produces free radicals hence alterations of the DNA of the skin cell are caused.
- UVB Radiation: Penetrates until the epidermis and produces tan and sunburn.
