What’s the first skincare product that comes to your mind when you read the word “eye cream”? What if I tell you that you have eye balms too with similar or might be better results? Let’s get into it and discuss how it is different from an eye cream.

Though both eye creams and eye balms are pretty similar, still they have their differences. Eye creams are water-based skincare products, but these have only 20% formula in them, and the rest is water. It usually contains hydrating ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, etc. On the other hand, an eye balm is a fat-based product that is more nutritious and rich in vitamins. An eye balm might not contain water at all and is solely based on lipids such as shea butter, coconut oil, etc.

So this difference in their compositions results in different textures. Eye cream is thin and easier to apply around the eye. Eye balms are thicker and are a little harder to smear, but they will not stretch your skin. It also has an immediate effect on dryness and dehydration. Choosing one over the other can totally depend upon personal preferences and desired outcomes.
