There’s this new kid on the block and it’s Sea Moss.
It’s more commonly known as red algae originating from Ireland and Jamaica as a superfood.
Because of its high content of vitamins and minerals, people have found a way to use it for the skin.
What can it do?
Heal Acne
This moss contains a high amount of sulfur which has an antibacterial effect on P. Acnes, the bacteria responsible for acne. On top of this, it can reduce sebum production and help regain the normal microbiome of the skin.
Protect the Skin from Damage
It contains a long list of elements that are naturally found in our bodies to function and heal properly from external damage. Some of these are calcium, potassium, vitamin K, and A.
Moisturizes
It contains omega 3 fatty acids that can strengthen the barrier of the skin and seal in moisture.
Anti-inflammatory
Given the combination of its contents, it can also reduce inflammation in cases such as acne and rosacea.
Where can you get one?
It’s pretty difficult to formulate your own because seaweeds can contain toxic metals that need to be filtered properly.
It is best to find well-formulated ones to steer clear of complications and to receive optimal benefits.
You will hardly find “sea moss” on the label. It will likely hide behind “seaweed, algae, or moss”.
