Whenever celebrities are asked how they are able to maintain clear skin, 80% of the time they will just say that they drink enough water.
Is this just a default celebrity answer or is there any truth to this?
While there is not enough evidence or research that says that drinking water can keep our skin clear, a lot of people still believe that enough hydration can create beneficial effects on the skin.
Well, if you think about it, we are made of 60% to 70% water. And keeping our water levels at an adequate amount will keep our cells healthy and functional. In fact, a few studies suggest that drinking water can increase blood flow to our cells which later on improves skin integrity.
When our skin cells are healthy and have all the supportive structures in place, our protective barrier can defend our skin from irritants and infection. Also, it can function normally in producing collagen to keep us from developing wrinkles, sagging, and dull skin.
However, this does not mean that chugging a gallon of water all at once can give you clearer skin by tomorrow.
Experts suggest that you need to form the habit of drinking at least 3 liters of water distributed all throughout the day.
