What is Pro-Retinol and How is it Different?

We all know that it’s not always a smooth ride with retinol. Some easily get the hang of it, while others have to drag their feet going through “retinization”. pro-retinol

Of course, it’s all worth it in the end. Retinol is an ingredient gifted by the gods to give us another chance to healthy glowing skin

However, for starters, Pro-Retinol can be your first step towards Retinol.

Why?

Pro-Retinol works like Retinol except that it removes the scary retinization phase, where you have to wait out redness, itchiness, white/blackheads, and papules.

What makes it more tolerable for starters and sensitive skin types is that it is a mixture of retinol and sunflower seed fatty acids. The yellow flower has anti-inflammatory properties that control the initial shocking phase from retinol application. Plus, it helps restore the skin barrier keeping the skin healthy and resistant to infections (like acne).

What’s the drawback?

Since pro-retinol is milder, the effects might be appreciated a bit longer than pure retinol. If retinol takes 1 to 2 months to show some skin changes, pro-retinol might take 3 to 4 months.

Where can you find this?

There are several brands that have Pro-Retinol. These are:

Glossier

L’oreal

Boscia

Kiehl’s
