Practical Tips: How to Control Oily Skin

Oil in the skin is normal. We actually need some oil to moisturize and protect the barrier of our skin. But sometimes, when our glands produce more than what is needed, it can clog our pores and eventually contribute to acne. oily skin

So what can we do to keep our oily skin from greasing up too much?

Wash your face

This might sound so basic. But surprisingly, there are still a couple who forget. If you secrete a lot of oil, it’s best to wash your face once in the morning and once in the evening before bedtime. If you live in a tropical country and sweating more than usual is expected, splashing it with water at noon would be harmless. Just make sure not to use harsh soaps that will strip off all of your oil. Remember that you still need some of it.

Eat clean

Since too much oil can attract bacteria and influence acne formation, it’s important that you also watch what you eat. Eat foods rich in antioxidants that can help fight acne instead of munching on processed foods or refined sugars that can trigger it even more.

Use a facial mask

If you have more time to spare, wear a facial mask once or twice a week at night that contains bentonite clay, kaolin clay, salicylic acid, or niacinamide. These will help in controlling the oil on the surface of your skin.
