Why Your Hair Turn Grey at a Young Age?

Grey hair is characteristic of old age. But you might have noticed or experienced yourself that some people start developing grey hair at a very young age. Let’s discuss what can be the possible reason behind it or if it can be reversed or not.

Usually, grey hair is more noticeable in people with darker hair. There can be several causes for premature hair greying:

Genetics:

It is highly possible that if your parents suffered from premature greying, you might experience it. This can’t be reversed as genetics can’t be changed. You can color them.

Stress:

Chronic stress can cause a rise in your number of white hairs. Working on stress management can help reduce the premature greying of hair.

Autoimmune diseases: 

In the case of alopecia or vitiligo, etc., it can also increase white strands.

Thyroid disorders:

Hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism both can cause a decline in melanin production in our body, causing premature ageing. If thyroid function is restored, it can be reversed.

Vitamin B-12 deficiency: 

It is crucial for hair health and color. Its deficiency can affect melanin production. It is also reversible.
