Why Is Bladderwrack Good for Your Skin?

Seaweeds are long known for their anti-inflammatory properties and skin benefits. Bladderwrack is also seaweed. Let’s find out why it’s good for your skin and how you can use it for beauty purposes.           

Fucus vesiculosus, aka bladderwrack, is a type of brown seaweed. It has a long history of use in traditional medicines for many ailments. It is rich in vitamins (vitamin A, B complex and C), minerals (calcium, iodine, magnesium, zinc, potassium, and sodium), antioxidants and fibers. You can consume it in your diet; as it is edible. Several cultures use it as a regular diet. You can also opt for topical preparations to extract skin benefits. 

Why Is Bladderwrack Good for Your Skin?

 

Topically it is famous for cellulite, skin aging, burns and similar conditions. It contains fucoidan, which is a potent anti-inflammatory compound. It is known to prevent skin’s collagen degradation. Hence it increases collagen contents, helps in skin healing, improves elasticity and skin softness. It is also known for detoxifying your skin and giving clearer and glowing skin             

It is available in oral supplements too but it can be accompanied by some side effects. So, it is better to consult your doctor before taking these supplements. On the other hand, its topical use is safe.
