Can Waxing Make Your Skin to Sag?

Waxing is one of the most common ways of removing body hair; many myths are associated with it. One of them is that it makes your skin sag. Let’s find out if this myth is true or false.

Some people believe that as waxing removes the upper protective layer of the skin, it makes the skin prone to more damage. Skin’s natural barrier is breached so damaged skin results in saggy skin. There’s another belief that continuous pulling makes skin saggy. Though they are valid to some extent, it is totally false that these processes can cause your skin to sag. If waxing is done correctly, it will never make your skin saggy.

For understanding this, one needs to know the reasons for saggy skin. They are listed as:

  • Older age, as collagen and elastin levels fall with age.
  • A poor diet can also cause saggy skin.
  • Sudden weight loss.
  • High sun exposure.
  • Smoking.

Waxing is nowhere on this list. So it can be concluded that waxing does not make your skin saggy. But still, you should choose the best product for your skin and follow the manufacturer’s instructions to avoid unwanted results.
