Why Are Silicone Makeup Blenders Not a Good Choice?

Silicone makeup blenders indeed suit the aesthetics, but they are not a good choice for their job. Let’s discuss why.

Why Are Silicone Makeup Blenders Not a Good Choice?

Silicone-based makeup sponges got quite a hype because of their aesthetic shapes and colors. They are also quick to clean, so they address the hygiene issue. However, despite all these attractive benefits, they are not good enough to be used, because of following reasons:

Non-porous texture:

They have a non-porous texture which does not absorb the product but also makes it difficult to blend. Your blender needs to have a porous surface to evenly distribute the product while absorbing the excess amount.

Don’t get moist:

You must have heard of hacks like using a damp beauty blender to get a perfectly blended foundation. However, this is not possible with silicone-based blenders.

Why Are Silicone Makeup Blenders Not a Good Choice?

Flat surface:

A silicone blender has a flat surface which honestly does not help with blending. In fact, it spreads and removes the product but won’t blend it at all.

Surely silicone makeup blenders are long-lasting, easy to clean, and sustainable, but they are not doing the job they are designed to do. On the other hand, a traditional sponge, a brush, or even your fingers can do a much better blending than silicone blenders.
