What Makes Niacinamide a Great Active Ingredient?

Niacinamide is a form of vitamin B3 that is essential in maintaining good health, which is why it is not so surprising that it can also do wonders for our skin.

It is known for its brightening effect but it is a powerful ingredient that can do so much more than just correct spots.

So, what makes it so great?

First, it’s a good ingredient to include in your routine if your skin is too sensitive to retinoids. Although it works gently on the skin, researchers say that niacinamide can increase collagen production. In effect, it reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, post-acne marks, and age spots.

Second, it restores the natural integrity of your skin by repairing DNA damage and strengthening your lipid barrier. This is why if you enjoy outside activities, niacinamide is a must for it can repair UV-induced damage, and can protect your skin from pollutants and toxins.

Third, niacinamide is an anti-inflammatory that can keep red pimples at bay. If applied consistently, it can even lessen the formation of acne.

And if you are struggling with big pores and oily skin, niacinamide can regulate the oil secretion from your glands and reduce pore size.

How to start?

You can start with 2% and work your way up to 5%, applying it twice daily.
