These Are the Best Active Ingredients to Improve Pigmentation

Pigmentation is one of our biggest concerns when treating the skin, even if you can hide it with makeup most of the time. Many products in the market sometimes make it difficult to choose one, but by knowing the active ingredients that treat this specific concern, you may be able to choose the right one that fits your needs. 

Here you have a list of active ingredients recommended to treat pigmentation

  • Retinoids: You need to start with the lowest concentration and then increase progressively if you want to see some results and avoid side effects. The main function is inhibition of melanin, the pigment in charge of causing hyper or hypopigmentation, 
  • Sunscreen: It is a must product you need to add to your routine, even if it is cloudy outside. Always apply at least SPF 30 and reapply when doing outdoor activities. 
  • Niacinamide: Not only it repairs the skin barrier but also prevents pigmentation. It is also known as Vitamin B3
  • Kojic Acid: The main function of this ingredient is to block pigment production.
  • Hydroquinone: It is amazing for treating melasma; however, you must be careful when using it and only apply by following the recommendations given by your Doctor.
