If you are a college-going student or working in an office, you need to leave your home and have to face the damaging sun rays that can cause skin tanning. Here comes the need for sunblock or sunscreen to protect your face from the sun and the tanning caused by it.
Wearing sunblock daily is one of the best and easiest ways to protect your skin appearance and health at any age.
It not only helps your skin to prevent skin tanning but also helps your skin to glow naturally.
Benefits of wearing sunblock:
Your skin responds to sun exposure by becoming inflamed. As a result of sunburn, your skin adapts by tanning. The more prolonged your exposure, the more severe a burn may be. Tanned skin is also the result of melanin released in the affected area.
Wearing sunblock not only protects against direct UV exposure incurred during outdoor activities, but it also protects your skin from day-to-day exposure. This includes driving, walking to your place of work or a class, and taking your kids to the park.
Amount of sunblock to apply:
One ounce of sunblock is enough to completely cover your palm. Squeeze your sunblock into your hand, and apply it to your face, neck, arms, and legs.
The ideal SPF:
While wearing sunblock is better than not wearing any, if you have a choice, it’s best to choose a sunblock with broad-spectrum UV protection of at least SPF 30. These recommendations apply to people of all skin tones. Ideally, you should also apply sunblock to your skin 30 minutes before going out into the sun.
Sunscreen for babies and toddlers:
You should avoid using sunscreen on babies under 6 months old. That doesn’t mean they aren’t at risk of damage from the sun. Sunscreen can be potentially harmful in young babies because they may be at greater risk of side effects from the chemicals in sunscreen. It’s best to keep babies under 6 months old in the shade and dress them in protective clothing to prevent sun exposure.
