One of the common reasons we seek refuge in skincare (well, next to acne) is because of dark spots.
If it’s just the hyperpigmentation (not scars) that you are worried about, there’s no need to break the bank for there is such a thing as affordable and effective skincare.
All you need to do is to research what works and ask your doctor if the skincare you’re eyeing is a good addition to your regimen.
To start, here are a few of the skincare products that have worked well for me, my patients, and what I have found to be useful for others.
#1 Neostrata Illuminating Serum
This contains Niacinamide 4%, Licorice, and B-Resorcinol to even out skin tone. It also contains a very powerful amino acid called Neoglucosamine that works to renew the skin 10x faster, reduce the appearance of dark spots, and hydrate the skin.
#2 SkinCeuticals Discoloration Defense
This potion contains 3% Tranexamic Acid, 1% Kojic Acid, and 5% Niacinamide that are active for reducing pigmentation in the skin. And it comes with HEPES which is for breaking the bonds in between dead skin cells to enable exfoliation.
#3 The Ordinary Azelaic Acid Suspension
Aside from having great anti-inflammatory properties for rosacea and acne, Azelaic Acid is a tyrosinase inhibitor that interferes with melanin production. And it is a powerful antioxidant that can repair the skin from UV-induced damage.
