Vitamin C is one of the best and most common antioxidants used in our skincare routines; therefore, you must learn all the tricks and benefits that come with the use of this active ingredient.
- Get smaller products: Vitamin C products tend to expire a few months after they are opened.
- Avoid translucid containers: Light causes degradation of the products. This is the main reason why you will find most of the containers for Vitamin C are darker than the rest. Also, avoid leaving your product directly under the sunlight and save it in a dark space.
- Look for containers where the product is not exposed constantly to the air: Vitamin C degrades by being in contact with air. It is better to choose containers with pumps that open jars that must be opened and closed constantly.
- You can choose to apply in the morning or evening. If you decide to do it during the day, make sure to apply sunscreen.
- Apply it first: Try to apply the product right after your cleanser and before your moisturizer; this way, it can be absorbed faster.
- Be careful when mixing with other products: Like retinoids, salicylic acid, alpha-hydroxy acids.
- Always mix it with: Sunscreen, vitamin E, and ferulic acid.
