The skin on our lips is thin, and it doesn’t contain oil glands. Hence dryness is always around the corner. Chapped lips are not only caused by the lack of oil production but can be due to certain types of food, sunburn, medications, extreme weather, excessive licking, wrong product choice, and even lack of moisture.
Not only is it limited to dryness, but in certain cases can be accompanied by pain, cracks, swelling, and even bleeding when the condition is not controlled on time.
What are the complications of having chapped lips?
There is a condition called “Cheilitis” that will affect the corner of the lips producing white plaques, ulcers, and even bleeding that can have more serious consequences if not treated by a professional.
