What you do to avoid getting chapped lips?

Chapped lips can get a bit uncomfortable especially when the skin is already sticking out and all you want to do is peel it off. But as we all know, pulling it will just worsen the situation.

So what can we do?

1.The most basic of all: drink a lot of water

If your body is dehydrated, it will reflect in the moisture of your skin. If there isn’t enough water in your system, less water will reach your skin making it look dry. So drink at least 8 glasses of water a day to make sure that there’s enough hydration. Maybe you could trim down on your coffee so that you don’t excrete a lot of water.

2.Try not to lick your lips very often

Since our saliva is wet, we would initially think that it can hydrate our lips and lessen their “chappiness”. But actually, saliva contains enzymes that help in breaking down our food. So wetting them with our saliva too frequently can lead to dry chapped lips.

3.Go for moisturizing lip balms

There’s no other way but to bombard your lips with moisturizers that can attract and lock in water. So instead of going for lip balms with menthol, cinnamon, or mint, better go for petroleum jelly, beeswax, or shea butter.
