Cancer involves radiotherapies, chemotherapy, and many other aggressive medications and therapies that not only can affect your overall performance but also take a toll on your largest organ, your skin. The most known side effects are sensitive, fragile and reactive skin and many others.
Itchiness
Around 30% of oncologic patients complain about itchiness, which is caused most of the time by skin dryness and as a reflection of any other organ malfunction. Most of the patients will scratch themselves as a result of this. There are a lot of basic and effective treatments like antihistamines, calamine, or any other topical products that you can find over the counter. Remember that you must always consult your physician before trying any new medication.
Any skin lesion caused by itchiness will be transitory in most cases, as long as it is treated on time.
Eyebrows, eyelashes, and hair
One of the most known side effects of chemotherapy is reversible hair loss. Not every cancer medication will cause this, but most of them will likely do it. The affected areas are eyebrows, eyelashes, arms, and pubis. One way to prevent or avoid further damage is using non-irritating products and avoiding using a hairdryer, straightening products, and hair dye.
