Is It Safe to Take Finasteride for Hair Loss?

Finasteride is one of the commonly prescribed medicines for hair loss in both men and women. Usually, people have reservations about its use. Let’s try to know if it is safe to take or not.                         

Whether it’s your receding hairline or bald patches around the crown, hair loss is a serious concern among both genders. While there are several remedies but medically, there are few most effective approaches. One of them is the use of finasteride. It is an oral medicine.. It works by reducing the production of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in our body.

Finasteride is known to give natural results. It regrows hair on the natural pattern of that individual. Also, not just regrow, it slows down and ultimately stops the hair fall. But contrary to its benefits, people are usually reluctant while consuming it because it has a few side effects, such as:

  • Decreased sexual drive in men
  • Changes in mood
  • Breast tenderness
  • If a pregnant female consumes, then complications in unborn male babies.

These side effects are serious concerns. But all the side effects in males have very little prevalence, and most men don’t even see them despite the long-term use. However, it is contraindicated in pregnant females or those who are trying to get pregnant.
