Sometimes, even if you have been consistent with your skincare, your skin still finds its way to go mad. Don’t be so hard on yourself. It happens.
Below are a few things to check to be back in control.
Allergies
First things first, could it be an allergic reaction?
It doesn’t have to be new skincare. It could be anything that came in contact with your skin– detergent, sheets, something in the air or perhaps, something that you ate.
If you think it was a reaction, stay away from the allergen and call your dermatologist for a possible steroid or anti-histamine treatment.
In the meantime, moisturize your skin properly to help control the redness and itchiness.
Over- Exfoliation
By any chance, are you using too many acids and/or Benzoyl Peroxide?
Stripping off moisture from your skin on a constant basis without replacing it can damage the integrity of your skin.
You might want to cut down or take a break from your exfoliating products for a few weeks and focus on bringing back moisture.
While waiting for your skin to recover, review your skincare and make sure that there is a good balance between your moisturizers and exfoliators.
Get Back to Basics
Don’t forget that a good diet and lifestyle are the foundation of a healthy skin.
Make sure you:
✔ Drink enough water
✔ Eat vegetables and fruits instead of refined sugars and processed food
✔ Get 7 to 9 hours of sleep
✔ Exercise
