What are the Active Ingredients in Our Skincare Products?

Active ingredients in our Skincare Products are those that address the specific concerns of our skin; hence, the key when choosing a product is to know the function of the active ingredient present. Concerns like aging, pigmentation, redness, and dry skin are the most treated conditions.

Most of the time, they are presented as serums because they are able to hold higher concentrations of active ingredients; however, they can also be found in creams or lotions and be used in every type of skin, even if this is sensitive.

Here you have a list of the key ingredients you should add to your Skincare

  • Photoprotection: You should add SPF to prevent skin damage and protect your skin against UV light and free radicals. Use it by itself, or make sure your makeup or moisturizer has SPF on it.
  • Hydration: Hyaluronic Acid is the main ingredient you will see in moisturizers; this ingredient can retain water and improve fine lines and elasticity of your skin.
  • Antioxidants: Vitamin C and Vitamin E can protect against free radicals and external damage.
  • Anti-inflammatories: Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) can reduce inflammation, improves acne, texture, and skin tone.

How do I know which concentration I should use?

Depending on the product, ingredient concentration can vary; usually, serums have the highest concentration; followed by creams, tonic, and lotions. Every time you are about to use a new ingredient, you should start with the lowest concentration and eventually increasing this if your skin can tolerate it with no side effects.

The concentration is in the box; however, some products don’t show it, and this means that in this case, the concentration is too low and probably is not going to be effective or show noticeable results. Your aesthetician or dermatologist will indicate certain products and be specific about the concentration you should use to treat your concern.
