Do not get scared of the word “acid”. Hyaluronic acid is an element that is present on every cell on our body. We can find it on the skin, eyes, umbilical cord and joints. But its levels decrease eventually which leads to saggy skin, dehydration, and wrinkles.

You can apply hyaluronic acid on your skin through serums, moisturizers, masks, or injections. It targets the dehydration and appearance of lines and wrinkles. It is present in most of the products that you use on your daily skincare.
There are a lot of ways to classify Hyaluronic acid, one of them will take into account the way it is bonded. It is classified as Reticulated and Non-reticulated.
Classes of Hyaluronic acid
Reticulated
Reticulated means that the molecules are linked between them by Van der Waals bridges. This union is like a mesh, known to create volume and fill some anatomical structures.
You can find Reticulated class in famous dermal fillers, some brands like Restylane® or Juvederm®. Once injected on the face, it will plump immediately. You can use it on the smile lines, marionette lines, cheeks, and nose job. It will get rid of wrinkles by plumping the area where it is applied. This will give you immediate and long-lasting results.

Non-reticulated
Non-reticulated is well-known because there is no binding between the molecules. They keep the same size and because of the tiny size, it can penetrate deep in the skin. It is applied more superficial and has more indication for hydration and correction of fine and superficial wrinkles.
When you start reading about Hyaluronic acid, you will also find terms like low or high molecular weight. This refers to the size and weight of the molecule itself. It only means how far can the molecule penetrates the skin when applied.
The ones with high molecular weight will stay on the surface, works for a short time, has anti-inflammatory properties, and keeps moisture. The low molecular weight is a fragmented product, penetrates deeper on the skin. It also increases firmness, and have an anti-wrinkle effect for a longer period than the high molecular.
