Ways To Fix Your Cracked Heels

Cracked heels also called heel fissures are a common foot condition that is a reason for discomfort, especially for women. When skin becomes so dry then first its color starts to change and then it begins to crack. Often, the only problem with cracked heels is their appearance. However, in some cases, the condition can be severe if the cracks become infected. Normally it can be treated at home by following a routine of home remedies but if you feel any redness, soreness or pain in any area then see a doctor. Following home remedies can be followed to get it repaired:

Use an emollient moisturizer:

It penetrates the skin and reduces water loss and improves the water content in the local cells. It fills the gap between cracks which makes the skin appear smooth and soft.

Apply an occlusive moisturize:

An occlusive moisturizer instead of getting absorbed in the skin like an emollient moisturizer forms a layer over the skin. It prevents the further loss of water that has already been absorbed. Petroleum jelly and mineral oil are included in an occlusive moisturizer.

Wear cotton socks when in bed:

After applying petroleum jelly, wearing socks will help you to:

  • Lock in the moisture.
  • Allow the heel skin to breathe.
