Retinol is one of the most used products in our skincare, especially if you are over twenty-five and are looking to prevent wrinkles and any other sign of aging like pigmentation and fine lines. This product is also used to treat blackheads, whiteheads, and even acne; therefore, it is used by most people at any moment in their life. But did you know that not all retinol is the same, and you need to follow some special indications to keep it safe from external factors like heat and light?
In this post, we will tell you what you need to know when buying a Retinol product:
- Formula: The effect of these products is determined by their concentration. Choose formulas between 0.1-1% and keep in mind other ingredients that may be added to your products; look for Niacinamide which can attenuate the side effects of retinol.
- Packaging: By choosing the wrong packaging, your product can be exposed to light or air, making your product spoiled in a short period. Make sure it is completely closed and is not exposed directly to sunlight. You can use aluminum tubes, airless pumps, and even droppers, but avoid any other presentation when your product can be widely exposed to air and light.
- Storage: Keep it in a dry and dark place; always avoid direct sun exposure.
