Our hormones can be a bit of a challenge. And instead of going against our hormonal swings, we should embrace them and be in sync. Menstrual Cycle
Besides, what other choice have we got? We have 4 menstrual phases that can influence the state of our skin. To help you keep track of your cycle and the changes in your body, there are several apps that you can choose from. My favorite is Clue.
Menstrual Phase
This is the time when your skin feels dehydrated, dull, and/or dry.
Keep within reach of comforting ingredients like hyaluronic acid, ceramides, and centella asiatica.
Follicular Phase
When your period is about to end, estrogen increases leading to your skin’s “best state”. At this point, you can support your skin with anti aging creams and mild exfoliants to bring out the glow further.
Ovulation Phase
This phase is not difficult to miss for this is when you start noticing egg whites on your underwear and acne starts popping up.
It’s the best time to go light on your make-up and moisturizers, and have your anti-acne skincare on hand.
At this stage, it would be a good time to slather anti-inflammatory actives and mild exfoliants to keep your skin from getting clogged.
Luteal Phase
The PMS phase. This stage might be a bit sensitive. So drink a lot of water to keep your skin hydrated and remember to go for gentle skincare.
