Reasons Why You Shouldn’t Be Using Makeup Remover Wipes

As the skincare industry is growing, many new products are being introduced in the market, like makeup remover wipes. They are handy and easy to you.

Following are some reasons that make makeup remover wipes a bad choice for regular use.

  • Makeup remover wipes are made up of fibers like polyester, rayon or polypropylene, etc. Wiping or rubbing your face with them can be harsh for your skin. It can lead to irritation and sensitive skin.
  • Moreover, these fibers are non-biodegradable, so they are not environment friendly at all.
  • If you look at the chemicals added to them, you can understand how bad they are for your skin. They often contain fragrances. Alcohols and preservatives are added to them to prevent microbial growth. Such alcohols such as formaldehyde, are drying for your skin. They not only disrupt your natural skin barrier but also promote breakouts.
  • Makeup remover wipes are not manufactured to replace your regular skin cleanser. These wipes don’t remove makeup completely. There are high chances that makeup residues are still left on the skin that would clog your pores
  • Also, it’s not good to use on the skin near your eyes as it contains preservatives that can promote irritation and wrinkles under the eye area.
  • Make remover wipes are not good for any skin type. But if you have sensitive skin, you need to be more careful. Even baby wipes are not a good option. Double cleansing and micellar water are better options than using these wipes.
