Ingredients to Look for in an Eye Cream

Aside from eating healthy and getting enough sleep, investing in good eye cream can slow down signs of aging around the eyes.

What should you look for when shopping for eye creams?

Antioxidants

Antioxidants are basic ingredients for protecting the skin from free radicals and reducing UV- induced damage that causes fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation

They also help in locking in moisture and in enhancing collagen production to keep wrinkles at bay.

The most popular antioxidants used for eye creams are vitamins C and E, niacinamide, and caffeine. eye cream

Peptides

For those who have very sensitive skin and cannot tolerate vitamin C and retinol, peptides are a good alternative for promoting collagen and elastin production.

Hence, peptides can make the skin around the eyes tighter and more elastic.

Ceramides

When our skin barrier is not intact, dryness and sensitivity can easily occur.

Ceramides lock in moisture to keep the barrier strong to protect the skin from external damage. And with more moisture, the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles can be slowed down.

Hyaluronic Acid

HA is very powerful in terms of absorbing water. And when the skin is properly hydrated, it creates favorable effects in wound healing and anti-aging.

Retinol

As a vitamin A derivative that can speed up the skin cell turnover, it can help reduce lines and pigmentations around the eyes.
