Can You Use Body Scrubs for the Face?

Exfoliating is a crucial part of our skincare. It keeps our skin free from dead skin cells, unclogs our pores, and smoothen uneven texture. Plus, it helps our skin absorb ingredients and optimizes skincare. body scrubs

Although exfoliating scrubs might work well with our bodies, it does not mean that they will also work well on our faces.

Body scrubs usually consist of large granules that, when scrubbed against the skin, dirt and grime come along with it.

However, the sugar crystals found in body scrubs are too large and too rough for the face that can cause small tears in the skin. These scratches can make your skin vulnerable to infection and trigger inflammation that can eventually lead to breakouts.

Instead, opt for facial cleansers that come with tiny granules. They are much kinder to the skin. Other physical options are washcloths and cleansing brushes. But sad to say, these don’t do much.

You are always better off with chemical exfoliating ingredients if you want something that can clean your skin effectively. Chemical exfoliators will naturally shed off the filth and dead skin cells you want to get rid of.

Alpha and beta hydroxy acids are the two kinds of exfoliators you can look for.

However, always begin with a low dose to prevent skin reactions. A good practice is to take a test spot behind your ear overnight before applying it all over your face.
