Botox: How Does It Work, and How Long Will It Last?

Neuromodulators like Botulinum Toxin (Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®) are among the most aesthetic procedures performed worldwide. It is a quick and painless procedure that will reduce the dynamic wrinkles on your face. You must know that the results are neither immediate nor permanent, and depending on the toxin used, they can vary.

How do Botulinum Toxic works?

Botulinum toxic works by blocking the nerve signal that causes the muscle movement; this means that the signal sent from your brain to your muscle won’t be affected; hence the muscle movement will be stopped temporarily (while the toxin effect lasts). After the movement is blocked, you will notice how your wrinkles disappear, and you will have a more relaxed look.

You must know that it doesn’t work for deep wrinkles, but only for the wrinkles caused by muscle movement like the horizontal forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet around the eyes, bunny lines in the nose, and a few others in the face.

When are the results noticeable?

Some toxins can show results as soon as two days; for others, you will need to wait for five days to a week. You will start noticing an amazing effect after two weeks, and around the sixth week, your results will progressively decrease. You will see how your muscle will begin moving slowly.

How can my result be affected?

Your result will depend on the product used, the number of units applied, skincare, individual metabolism, and lifestyle.
