In our skincare routine, we tend to combine several products, not knowing that some of them can’t be used simultaneously. So you should avoid using the topical products and pay attention to current medication and external factors like the sun.
- Perfumes and sun exposure: Perfumes contain preservatives, alcohols, musk, and bergamot which are ingredients that do not get along with the sun; not only they can cause pigmentation, but they can also cause redness and burning.
- Retinol and other acids: On occasions, it can cause dryness and redness when combined with AHA; each skin is different, so when trying these combinations, we should be aware of the possible side effects. Both products work as an exfoliant; hence look for potential skin damage.
- Retinol and Benzoyl Peroxide: You may be able to use them at different times of the day, but never simultaneously. Benzoyl Peroxide, able to treat acne, can cause on occasions irritation and dryness, and the same side effects are caused by retinol, therefore there will be double chances of developing skin problems if you use both products simultaneously.
- Vitamin C and AHA: When applying together, both products may get destabilized; therefore, you won’t receive any of the benefits. You can use them the same day, choosing one for the morning and the other for the evening.
