All You Need To Know About Arbutin: An Unknown Treatment For Pigmentation

Arbutin is derived from Hydroquinone. While Hydroquinone eliminates the cells that produce the pigmentation in melasma, Arbutin only inhibits the enzymes that increase pigment production; therefore, it is safer than Hydroquinone.

Can everybody use it?

Yes, Arbutin can be used in any age and every skin type. Arbutin is less irritating than any other depigmentation ingredient. Hence it can also be used in sensitive skin without causing dryness.

What skin conditions can be treated by Arbutin?

It can be used to treat pigmentation caused by prolonged sun exposure, pregnancy, birth control, lentigos, and melasma.

How many times can Arbutin be applied in a day?

It can be used in your morning and night daily skincare routine.

Can it be combined with other active ingredients?

So far, there are no contraindications for combination with other active ingredients. When combined with Kojic Acid, it can treat melasma.

What are the best ways to combine Arbutin?

  • Spots/Wrinkles: Arbutin + Retinol
  • Post-Inflammatory Inflammation: Arbutin + Azelaic Acid
  • Pigmentation: Arbutin + AHA or Kojic Acid
  • Dull skin: Arbutin + Vitamin C or Niacinamide
