Not a lot of people like to moisturize, especially those who come from hot tropical countries, like where I come from.
It’s usually because it feels heavy on the skin or it gets too greasy. And it’s an extra step after washing your face.
So why do it?
Moisturizing is an underrated step that does wonders for the skin in the long run. The effects of moisturizing might not be appreciated instantly but it will save you from a lot of trouble in the future.
Reason #1: It will save you from skin problems.
Providing your skin with enough moisture will help in strengthening its barrier. With a strong skin barrier, irritants won’t easily damage your skin and cause problems.
You just need to take time to search for the right one– gel-based (mostly water) for oily skin and cream-based (mostly lipids) for dry skin.
Reason #2: It will delay the appearance of wrinkles.
Well-hydrated skin will delay static lines (thin lines on your skin) from showing. In turn, it keeps your skin looking young and fresh.
Reason #3: It can help correct marks or spots.
With strong skin integrity, your skin can heal faster or better which can help to prevent acne marks and age spots.
