Several skincare products do wonders for your skin, but in return, they make you photosensitive. That does not mean you have to give up on them. It simply means that while you are using those products, you have to always slather on your sunscreen. Let’s discuss some of them:

Retinols:

Retinoids are wonderful anti-aging ingredients. While it reveals new cells that improve your appearance and youthful look, they are also very delicate and sensitive to the sun. That’s why it is generally recommended to use retinoids based products at night and in day time apply your SPF.

Glycolic acid:

Glycolic acid belongs to AHAs, and it is an effective chemical exfoliant. But it increases the skin’s sensitivity towards UV rays that leads to sunburn. If you have introduced glycolic acid in your routine, make sure to never miss out on your SPF. 

Salicylic acid:

It is a famous BHA for removing dirt, excess oils, and makeup and prevents break out. Although there are conflicting results on whether it causes sun sensitivity or not, it is better to be safe than sorry.
