Petroleum jelly is often used to address skin dryness and irritation. But it can be an important part of your facial skincare. Please keep reading to know more about it.

What You Need to Know About Putting Petroleum Jelly on Your Face

Petroleum jelly is a mixture of several minerals and waxes. It is very easy to apply, but it does not absorb into the skin. It has been used as a healing balm, ointment for wounds, burns, and chaffed skin for more than a century. Several studies support petroleum jelly as being superior to lanolin and mineral oil.

Petroleum jelly is a moisturizing product, but it does not add moisture to our skin. It acts as a sealing agent that seals the existing moisture and prevents loss of hydration. This property makes it perfect for its use on your face. It is suitable for short-term use for treating skin issues like irritation as well as long-term use as a moisturizer. Apply a small amount on your damp skin to lock in the moisture.

What You Need to Know About Putting Petroleum Jelly on Your Face Petroleum jelly is completely safe to use. But if you experience acne breakouts, it would be better to avoid petroleum jelly as it can worsen your skin. Although no allergy is reported with petroleum jelly, immediately stop using it if you experience allergy-like symptoms.
