As you age, the number of supplements you think you need also increases. 

But did you know that you don’t have to take everything in capsules if you are careful with your diet?

If you think your nails are brittle, breakable, discolored, grow slowly, thin, and are separated from the nails, you might want to double-check your diet.


Biotin is actually vitamin B7 that helps break down protein to nourish your nails. There are some who claim that it can strengthen brittle nails, but more research is needed to back this up. However, there’s nothing to lose if we add a bit more of it into our diet in the form of whole-grain cereals, salmon, chicken, peanuts, whole wheat bread, and eggs.


Our nails need to have cells that are able to divide frequently and grow constantly. And the element that is important for this kind of function is Zinc. It can be found in beef, chicken, fish, chickpeas, and nuts.

Vitamin C

The most basic of all is Vitamin C. 

It stimulates collagen synthesis and is essential for strengthening, not only our nails but also our teeth and hair. You can get more vitamin C from green leafy vegetables, tomatoes, bell peppers, and citrus fruits.
