What Mercury-Containing Products Can Do To Your Skin?

Your skin is the most protective part of your body; it protects you from the external environment and maintains balance inside your body. So stop using the products that contain such ingredients that can be damaging to your skin. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and World Health Organization (WHO) have prohibited the use of mercury on the skin because of its destructive effects on your skin.  

Many products are sold everywhere under the indication of improving the complexion, such as anti-aging creams and acne treatment as well. 

What Mercury-Containing Products Can Do To Your Skin?

But the mercury completely removes the upper layer of the skin that does two harms:

  1. No protection to the underneath skin anymore
  2. The underneath layers that are more sensitive are now exposed to the harsh condition outside. Mercury is a volatile metal, so by applying the mercury-containing product not only your skin will get damaged instead it will also destroy the skin of the people around you. It also inhibits the melanin-producing ability of the melanocytes. If the mercury-containing products are used for a long period they can be more damaging to your eyes, lungs, nervous system, and immune system
