Cold weather can affect our skin in a number of ways. Although it commonly causes dryness, some people may experience rashes in winters. Let’s find out how. Winter Rash
As the temperature of our surroundings declines, the moisture in our skin also reduces. This causes our skin to dry. However, sometimes this can cause skin irritation too. This irritation is called winter rash because it happens in winters only. The main reason behind skin rash is dryness. Even if your skin is normal throughout the year, it still can develop irritation and rash in cold weather.
Winter rash can be seen with the following symptoms:
- Skin Itching
- Redness
- Swelling
- Flaking
- Bumps
- Or even blisters.
In winter, our skin becomes irritated, just like how skin becomes sensitive and reactive in normal rashes. It can be limited to a small body part or all over the body. As the main culprit is dryness, so the best remedy is moisturizing your body. Prefer hydrating moisturizers and avoid using harsh chemicals in body care if you have a history of winter rash. Petroleum jelly and natural oils also help soothe the symptoms. However, approach a doctor who might prescribe you topical cortisone if it gets worse.
