Although lip blushing is a cosmetic procedure, it involves depositing a pigment in your lips, just like traditional tattooing. Lip blushing is semi-permanent but can last a few years. It is a costly procedure and done by a licensed professional. But most people want to know if it is safe or not. Generally, it holds the same side effects as traditional tattooing, such as:
- Pain
- Swelling
- Redness
These are minor side effects that usually last for only a short time. But if you observe that these side effects are worsening, such as excessive swelling, seek medical help as soon as possible. Apart from these side effects, there might be some other side effects, such as:
- Itching
- Skin bumps
- Rashes
- Uneven coloring, etc.
They can be problematic and might need some intervention to ease the discomfort. On the other hand, such procedures hold a serious concern of transmission of blood-borne infections. It is advised to visit a hygienic facility ensuring the use of clean equipment during the procedure so that you avoid transmission of any blood-borne infections such as hepatitis, HIV, etc.
