How to Tighten the Sagging Skin under the Chin?
Ageing is inevitable, but some ageing symptoms look really annoying, such as skin sagginess particularly under your skin. Keep reading to know why the skin in this area sags and how to tighten it.
Sagging skin under the chin or jawline is often called jowls. It occurs because the skin around the chin loses its collagen and elastin, so cheeks lose their firmness resulting in sagginess on the sides of your mouth. It develops in almost every person as we age. But some people have a higher tendency to develop jowls because of genetics, environmental or lifestyle factors.
Though jowls or sagginess under your chin is medically harmless, if it is affecting your confidence then you have several options. For preventing premature sagginess, reduce sun exposure and if you are smoking then quit it. If you have already developed the jowls then you have two options:
- Surgical procedures like liposuction, neck-lift or face-lift can help reduce the sagging skin.
- Non-surgical procedures like thermage jawline tightening, laser, or peels can help you. Also, dermal fillers can help camouflage the areas around the sagging skin.
Some studies have reported that several face exercises are beneficial for reducing the skin sagginess and rejuvenating it. It helps muscles around the chin and jawline to hold their shape.
