How to take care of your skin if you have tattoos

Tattoos can be small, big, unicolor or multicolor and in pretty much everybody area. It is a procedure that should be permanent; however, if you don’t take care of it, the quality of the tattoo can be damaged. Regardless of their size, you should have special care and consider some factors even before having them done.

What to check before having a tattoo?

Ensure that the place where you are having it done is fully sanitized, with the equipment needed, that the quality of the ink is good, and the person doing your tattoo is a professional. Ask for references before trying a new place or a tattoo artist.

What to do after you got your tattoo?

Do not remove the plastic or gauze covering your tattoo for a couple of hours; this will stop the bacteria and friction in the area. Also, for the next couple of weeks, avoid any soap with perfume or alcohol; they will only make your skin dryer.

After each shower, use a clean paper towel to dry the area and apply an antibiotic cream to prevent infections. Avoid pools, lakes, and rivers for the next month and always wear sunscreen when exposed to the sun.
