Winter means dry skin:

In winter, environmental humidity is low, but we’re also exposed to forced air or heat, which is also going to decrease humidity indoors. That creates perfect conditions for dry skin and sometimes breakouts along with irritation. 

First things first, exfoliate!

Specifically, in cold, drying winter months, this helps boost the benefits of your serum and moisturizer, helping your skin maintain proper hydration levels.

Amp up your moisturizer:

One of the easiest things you can do in the winter is to swap your usual moisturizer for a formula that’s slightly thicker and richer with mineral oil or lanolin to combat the dry air.

Protect your lips:

After you brush your teeth in the morning, apply a light layer of lip balm. Allow it to sink in before you apply your makeup. This will help your lips stay supple, even when using matte formulas. 

Wear SPF:

Sunscreen is a year-round necessity, even when the temps cool down so never skip this step. I promise your skin will thank you later.

Many people experience seasonal skin sensitivity brought on by the change of seasons. Being that, look for the products labeled as “gentle” or “sensitive”. Calming, anti-inflammatory ingredients like Aloe and Cucumber are the perfect ingredients that you need to include in your routine.

When your skin flares up, avoid adding too many new products at once. This goes for many acne products as well, as they can contain drying ingredients (Benzoyl Peroxide) that can be even more drying during the cooler months.
