Collagen is one of the most abundant proteins in our body. It makes up a huge portion of our connective tissues. Our body constantly makes collagen to maintain structure, provide support, and repair damaged tissues. However, the amount decreases over time.
Aside from taking collagen from supplements, what else can we do?
Eat collagen-rich foods.
Protein
It is made up of amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein. Therefore, there’s no better way to get some collagens but from protein.
Fish
You might have noticed that a lot of collagens supplement derive their collagen from fish. This is because they say that marine collagen is easy to absorb.
Chicken
If you try slicing up a chicken, you will notice that it does have a lot of connective tissues. They say that this makes the chicken a rich source of collagen.
Egg Whites
Egg whites do not have connective tissues but they contain amino acids such as lysine and proline.
Green Leafy Vegetables
Vegetables are known for their antioxidant properties that help in the formation of collagens and elastin in the skin. Plus, it can help prevent free radicals from breaking down your collagen.
Berries & Citrus Fruits
