Find out if you have a high risk of Melanoma.

Melanoma is one of the most common cancers, but it has higher cure rate if detected early; however, its mortality increases when the diagnosis is late. This type of cancer can be seen with the naked eye, which gives us an advantage over other types of cancer.

Everyone has a chance of developing melanoma, but it can be prevented in some cases, or its aggressiveness can be avoided.

Who has a higher risk of melanoma?

Sun exposure: The most critical risk factor is sun exposure; if you have suffered from multiple sunburns during your adolescence and childhood, it means that you have been accumulating a high dose of UV radiation.

Skin phototypes: Redheads with fair skin have a higher risk of suffering from these lesions; however, blondes and fair-skinned people should also use extra protection. People with darker skin have more melanin, which protects against UV radiation; however, this does not mean that these people have no risk of developing melanoma.

Family history: If you have already suffered from melanoma or have a family history then it is more likely to develop melanoma, even in areas with no prolonged exposure to the sun.

Other conditions: Age, obesity, sedentary, and diet are still being under research. However, they always play an essential role in overall health.
