Essential Skincare Products

It’s great that there is a slew of skincare options to choose from, given the plethora of skincare products available on the market. But do you really need to try everything?

Not because your skincare idol says that “this toner and that cream are a must-have” does not mean that you must include them in your shopping cart immediately.

It’s best to know your skin type before going on a splurge.

There are several ways to identify what your skin needs. You can simply just observe your skin throughout the day. Or you can follow the “Barefaced Method”; wherein, all you need to do is to wash your face and observe after 30 minutes how your skin feels. But if you have more time to spare, you can opt for the “Blotting Sheet Method” or the “Baumann Skin Type System” for a more accurate view.

Once you already have a clearer picture of what your skin is like (eg. Sensitive or reactive, dry or oily, normal or acne-prone, wrinkled or tight). It’s time to get down to business.

The 3 Essential Skincare Products:

The most important of all is a cleanser to remove the debris from your skin. The contents of your cleanser should depend on whether you have dry or oily skin.

For dry skin types, moisturizing cleansers are good whereas, for oily skin types, it should contain ingredients that can control your sebum.

Second product on the list would be for treatment that could be in the form of gel, serum, or cream. The purpose of this is to address what your specific skin concern is (eg. acne, marks, sun spots, etc.). This should be the most concentrated among all the three products.

Last but not the least, is a sunblock in the morning. It will give you the protection you need throughout the day from photo aging, acne, dilated pores, etc.
