Honestly, there are different views on pimples extraction. Some believe that it should be removed manually. While some believe that you should leave all the work to topical treatment.
In my practice, I have noticed that the best results are seen when you can combine both acne surgery (or extraction) and topical medicines especially in moderate to severe cases of acne.
If you opt for acne extraction alone, the pimples that you currently have will be removed but the risk of acne recurrence is high. This is because manual extraction is only limited to cleaning up the dirt that is visible to the naked eye. The oil and dead skin lurking underneath will eventually accumulate and form into a pimple once again. You would still need the help of topical medicines to push it all out and renew your skin so that you would not have to deal with acne forever.
On the other hand, if you only opt for a topical treatment, you would still need to manually remove the debris sticking out of your skin once the medicines have purged them all out.
However, there are some pimples that are best left untouched until they are completely ripe. Forceful removal of these kinds of pimples can leave scars. This is also why “self-popping” pimples at home is not advised.
