Hormonal acne:

Hormonal acne is when breakouts happen in adulthood that could range from blackheads and whiteheads to painful cysts. Hormonal acne is linked to the overproduction of sebum, which clogs pores, leading to pimples. Acne treatment

What triggers hormonal acne?

Hormonal acne happens because of hormone fluctuations, especially testosterone. A rise in testosterone may stimulate the excessive sebum production from the sebaceous glands. When this sebum combines with dirt, bacteria, and dead skin cells, it results in clogged pores and acne. acne treatment

What else can I do to clear hormonal acne?

Wash your face in the morning and again in the evening.

Apply no more than a pea-size amount of any acne product. Applying too much can dry out your skin and increase irritation.

Wear sunscreen every day.

Use only non-comedogenic products to reduce your risk of clogged pores.

Skin care routine:

Following steps are important if you have hormonal acne in your skin care routine.

Step 1: Wash your face gently!

Step 2: Apply an acne treatment medication.

Step 3: Apply an oil-free moisturizer.

Step 4: Don’t forget sunscreen.

Step 5: Cleanse again at night.

Step 6: Apply a retinol product before bed.

Should you exfoliate hormonal acne?

Whether your acne is mild or more severe, regular exfoliation will soften the skin and brighten your complexion. It also helps to reduce breakouts by keeping the pores from becoming clogged with the pus of dead cells and sebum (skin oil).

How often should I wash my face if I have hormonal acne?

Twice a day is enough for most people, unless you get really sweaty or dirty. Be sure to choose a product that won’t irritate your skin. When you wash, avoid scrubbing too hard. This can remove healthy oils, dry up your skin, and make matters worse.
