Burn scars can develop from boiling water to hot kitchen appliances or overexposure to sunlight. But often, we are left with their scars. Let’s discuss if you can get rid of them or not.

When our skin is damaged, some of its cells die while the rest of them try to heal themselves. Therefore, a scar is a sign of a healed injury that is often discolored with rough skin. Sometimes it might not be serious, but it can be prominent enough for you to get rid of them. However, the severity of injury controls if the scar will fade away or not.

Many scars with first degree burn damage heal within a few days with no visible blemish. However, often, second or third degree burn damage results in scars that don’t go away. For this purpose, you can try topical treatments such as silicone based gels or apply sunscreen to protect against further sun damage. This treatment can be beneficial for reducing the scar appearance. However, if these topical treatments don’t work, you can go for more specialized options such as steroidal treatment, laser, or surgery. These treatments require addressing collagen damage and should not be done without a professional’s advice.
